The advised words were “revolutionary”, “Dynamic”, “jolt”, “Silk”, “DNA” etc. The team wanted something that reflects the technology essence: dynamic, cool, unique and simple to spell, and fun to say. As per the point of view of James Gosling, “Java was one of the top preferences with Silk. But Java was so unique and most team members chose Java over other names.
  2. In Indonesia, Java is an island where the first coffee was produced which is known as Java coffee. James Gosling decided on the name Java while having a cup of coffee close by his office.
  3. Java is just a name, not a short form.
  4. James Gosling developed Sun Microsystems and released it in 1995. Sun Microsystems is now the subsidiary of Oracle Corporation.
  5. In the year 1995, Java was one of the ten best products in Time magazine.
